It’s National Picnic Week this week. So, I am planning a picnic at the weekend on a hill (with a view of the Ribblehead Viaduct and hopefully a steam train 🚂).

So, I am doing some research this week into ‘portable food’.

I found this by Ottolenghi but hoped you all might have some ideas for what we can take?

We have a ‘tiffin’ tin, from our local indian restaurant.  It’s metal and has four stackable containers.  I fill those with homemade hummus, crudites, soft cheeses, and lentil salad.

Also a few years back there was a trend for ‘hand pies’ – the Americans called them.  Us Brits, they are pasties!  Always good.

Or do what the French do… a baguette, several good cheeses and wine!
